Habit Change & Stop Smoking


Every habit started somewhere. Maybe it was smoking to fit in, drinking to quiet the noise or find some courage, nail biting because the discomfort gave momentary relief from something worse. At the time, on some level, it worked. So the subconscious filed it as useful and started running it automatically.


The problem is that over time the original reason gets buried under layers of repetition and societal myth. The subconscious starts constructing its own justifications, telling you that smoking helps you relax, that a drink takes the edge off stress, that the habit is helping you cope.
